A LITTLE BIT OF MY STORY
Hi there! I’m Sammy Kopecky, a Catholic wedding and portrait photographer serving the Kansas City and Manhattan area.
I’m currently wrapping up my last semester of an MBA in Entrepreneurship at Kansas State University—go cats! I’m beyond excited to connect with you and get to know your story.

A little bit about me outside of photography:
​
I’m deeply rooted in my Catholic faith, and it truly fuels everything I do. One of my biggest passions is living life fully and abundantly, and I believe that happens when we know and follow the One who created us (John 10:10). During my time at K-State, I was involved in leadership at St. Isidore’s Catholic Student Center and remain active in my home parish in Kansas City. I absolutely love photographing Catholic events and weddings—there’s a unique layer of beauty and grace in every sacrament that I feel so honored to capture. And if you ever want to chat about faith, I could talk for hours!

I’m also a proud daughter and big sister in a tight-knit family of four. My family is full of master debaters—we can talk about anything and will passionately argue every angle before somehow finishing hours later, laughing all the way. Growing up in that environment has definitely shaped my ability to communicate well, which comes in handy during those large, sometimes hectic, family group photos or wedding days!

At the heart of it all, I’m a people person. I absolutely love getting to know others, hearing their stories, and building connections. I’ve been blessed with the coolest friends from all walks of life, and they’ve truly made me a better person. I believe the more we know others, the more we grow ourselves.

If you don't know where to look for me, you can probably find me on a roof or on top of something tall. I just love being close to the sky, and any of my friends will tell you that the occurrence is far too frequent. I guess that's just what happens when you mix an adrenaline junkie with no fear of heights. :)

I absolutely LOVE sushi. I couldn't tell you why or how but I am always craving it (and rarely eating it!)

My favorite color is yellow, and I like to think my personality is yellow as well.

I’m obsessed with Ted-Talks because the idea that a person who has done extraordinary things can share them with the world is genius.

I love making connections and trying new things.

I really try to be a well-rounded person, it gives me a sense of balance and curiosity.

WHY I LOVE WHAT I DO
I've been interested in photography for as long as I can remember. I started learning the works of a camera just by taking photos of my friends or the views from my travels, and have kept shooting from then to where I am today.

I love photography, I think it’s beautiful that you can reveal the best version of someone that they may not even know exists. I’ve been grateful to have created a business from my passion, but at the root, I love what I do so it doesn’t even feel like work!
I started taking photos because I felt joy in the beauty of the people around me, and I had the ability to show that beauty to others. I believe photography can shape someone's perspective on the world.
